Incoming 6th Graders

6th grade
23-24 Parent Info Meeting
A note from Mrs Keck

Hello future 2023-2024 SMS Giants!

Welcome to SMS! We have put information together here in a "one-stop- shop" to help you find important information including:

  • Choosing electives
  • Our virtual Parent Information Night on Zoom on April 18th
  • Summer Session interest survey for any rising 6th graders for Camp Sequoia offering current 5th graders a chance to acclimate to our middle school campus to ease their minds and prepare them for their new educational journey.

We know how excited you and your child are that they will soon either promoting from Elementary school and embarking on their 3-year middle school journey or just joining us as an incoming 7th or 8th grader. We are hoping to ease your mind and get you acquainted with SMS by holding a virtual meeting and sharing information with you about what to expect. We will record the meeting and share the video recording with you. We will also include it on our school's website for your viewing convenience.

Camp Sequoia is a 2-week Summer opportunity available to current 5th graders aka rising 6th graders. In order to properly plan for staffing, we need to know how many families would be interested in having their child attend and which session would be preferred. More details are provided on the Google Form (link provided below). Please fill out the Camp Sequoia Interest Survey. We are trying to determine how many sessions and classes to hold and need your help. Please know that the interest survey is not binding and that another will be sent at a later date to officially enroll your child.

For any incoming 7th or 8th graders, call the office at 925-934-8174 to schedule a time to come in and choose your elective classes.

Thank you for taking the time to review this Welcome Newsletter. Kindly RSVP and everyone please mark your calendars for our Virtual Parent Information Night on Tuesday, April 18th at 6pm on Zoom.

With appreciation,

Principal Keck
