Dear Sequoia Community,

We are ending a wonderful first week of school. As I walked through our classrooms this week, I observed community building, collaborative work on projects, happy and excited middle schoolers, students making new friends and a very loud lunch room; a truly successful opening of the year.

In all grade levels, teachers have been sending home course outlines and student expectation handouts. Please take a moment to review them with your child, sign and return if requested by your child’s teacher.

Every student should have textbooks for English/Language Arts, Math, Science and History that are for home use only. If students do not have a complete set of textbooks, please come see us in the office.

Our Back to School Night is Sept. 17th. Classroom presentations will begin at 6:45pm and conclude at 8:40pm. All parents will receive a Sequoia map and their student’s schedule prior to Back to School Night. We encourage you to attend so that you can meet your child’s teachers and learn about classroom expectations and curriculum for each subject. Parking will be available on the blacktop. I look forward to seeing you on campus at our Back to School Night event.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact us by phone or e-mail; we are here to support all students.

The Sequoia Middle School staff and I are looking forward to a great 2014-2015 school year with your students!

Kevin Honey,

Sequoia Middle School

Mr. Honey will be hosting “Tea with Honey” on Friday, Sept. 5 at 8:00 am in the library. Parents are invited to come in and enjoy a nice cup of coffee and hear about beginning of the year activities and transitions.

Scholastic Book Fair Coming to Sequoia
The Fall Scholastic Book Fair is just around the corner. This five-day event opens on Monday, September 15 and will run through Friday, September 19 in the school library. This fair features a wide range of books, fun school supplies and posters aimed at middle school students. Stock up, shop for gifts for family and friends, and purchase books for teachers' classroom libraries. The Book Fair will be open during lunch and after school and during Back To School Night on Wednesday evening, September 17.
As an added bonus, in addition to the on-site Book Fair, you can find even more selections and shop online from September 7-27. Click HERE to go to the online Book Fair.
All proceeds benefit the school library. Mark your calendar and rev up your reading at the Fall Scholastic Book Fair!
